if you intend to reach an audience, don't run after every channel available and let them control your message, own the channel and have complete control over your message; use your own website, your own blog, your own email list; don't give away your content to someone else to make money off of
copy to channels, but lead back to your site
Medium started out as a good platform that seemd to allow you to control your content and had the added benefit of driving additional traffic to your posts; that's no longer true; they used to have custom domain so you could point URLs to your own site, that's not longer available
Tumblr used to have a good ecosystem that allowed content to be more visible using their tagging system; that no longer appears to be true; they still have custom domains, but they make sure to plaster their branding on top of your content as much as possible; It used to be a place of endless discovery; Vero feels like what Tumblr used to be, for now.
Tips on moving your content to your site; an instagram photo that's part of your blog post, etc
Focus on having an email list as a direct connection with people to get your updates; social networks as secondary
