My new short storyI've finally gotten around to putting up my new short story (if you're keeping count, my second one). It's called New Sight and it's about an engineer on his way back from a trip to Japan, about to land back home in San Francisco -- 20 years into the future. And a free downloadable soundtrackAlong with the story, there are MP3 links to four songs that serve as a soundtrack while reading the story. The songs are all by Mick Rippon, who's music is hard to find and which you probably won't find anywhere else on the web! His music originally inspired the subject of my first short story, Impulse Tracker, which I've also added a soundtrack of his songs for. Recommendations and stuffSpeaking of reading with a soundtrack, I happened to read The Last Temptation (it was on sale on comiXology), a graphic novel collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Alice Cooper, based on the album of the same name. I listened to the album tracks in-between reading chapters of the comic and enjoyed how much it added to the world. It was my first full Alice Cooper album and am now definitely planning to listen to more of his stuff! This year marks 50 years since 2001: A Space Odyssey came out. I decided to give it another try after originally seeing it ten years ago (almost exactly, about a month off) but not getting into it much. This time it felt different though. I don't think I really understood it when I originally saw it and I think I really get its grandiose concept now. And it still really seems to hold up after so many years, including in its direction and style. The part where HAL 9000 ("Open the pod bay doors, HAL.") sings, "Daisy, Daisy" really hit me in the feeler muscles. I'll leave you with the verse he sings and it'll be stuck in your head for a few days now too. Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do,
