Mysterium

I couple of days ago, I got back from a fan convention for the Myst video game series. It's been one I've had in mind to go to for years and this year turned out to be a great time to finally do it! It was in Spokane, Washington where Cyan, the studio that made the original Myst is located. And for one entire day of the convention, the studio opened up their doors to 250 of us to visit! There was a tour of their unique office featuring props used in the games, a photo and signing session with some of the game's creators, followed by lunch. And the afternoon consisted of some presentations which included showing progress of the new real-time 3D version of Riven! It was a well-organized weekend, with a great group of people, celebrating the unique interactive gaming experience of the worlds of Myst.

Car stolen

I had my (former) 2015 Kia Forte stolen a few weeks ago. Someone figured out an easy mechanism to starting certain Kia and Hyundai cars using a screwdriver and a USB 3 plug. It became a viral trend on Tik Tok to do it for joyrides that people would film and post. Mine was stolen in the middle of the night while I was parked at my girlfriend's apartments. The officers never found it, and it seems to have been done by professional thieves. Be sure to check and see if your car is on the list for being a target!

Nissan Leaf

In response to my car being stolen, last week, before the convention, I looked for my next car and decided on a used 2017 Nissan Leaf fully electric vehicle! I'm still getting used to the nuances of having an electric car, but I've been able to charge at home using a regular outlet. And when I feel the need to charge somewhere else, it's about a quarter of the cost of gas! Expected maintenance is also about half the cost, with no worries of things like regular oil changes which makes it just more damn convenient!
