Information overloadI've started re-reading Getting Things Done by David Allen and man, the first chapter alone sure is spot on, still, after about twelve years since I last read it! It may be resonating with me even more now! I wrote up a blog post in response to it. Deep WorkI while back, I finished reading Deep Work by Cal Newport, about how to properly focus on work that yields the most results. The idea is to utilize the full extent of your capabilities in concentrated efforts. And how this can be particularly difficult when we have so much distraction around us now. The DipIn-between reading Deep Work, I decided to also reread The Dip by Seth Godin, a short book that is just the right length. The key thing I got out of it was the entire point of finding a niche and really leaning into it: to be the best in your category. It means owning what makes your work/idea/product/service special, and then doing it so well/making it so good that you start to get attention for it. Because everyone wants the best of everything. Nathan for YouAnd, I've watched the entire run of Comedy Central's Nathan for You via Hulu. It's a reality-style comedy about Nathan Fielder, who helps small businesses market themselves. While it doesn't actually offer any good business advice, which is the whole point, it is definitely funny and pretty surprising at times! |
